Discover the Great outdoors with a stay in a Chalet Park Home...

Self catering Holidays in a park home, mean one thing -Freedom. Come and go as you please, relax and enjoy your surroundings. Park Homes come in all shapes and sizes, from the modest little mobile home (we mean with wheels removed and plumbed in) to strongly constructed timber buildings through to property that is more reminiscent of your standard bungalow. Types & Styles of building do vary from site to site but most will come fully furnished with everything you need to have an enjoyable holiday. Many are now even equipped with fairly sophisticated entertainment equipment and several even have access for computers and the Internet. Kitchens may be in some cases be fairly basic but you should have all the necessary pots & pans and cooking equipment as well as bedding. If you are taking smaller children with you, it is as well to check on the facilities on offer and to put in any special requests in good time.

Whatever the type or its construction, these buildings, located the world over and are immensely popular as Holiday Homes. Its not hard to understand why this type of property attracts an ever growing band of loyal owners & renters. Often located in areas of outstanding natural beauty, a stay in chalet park appeals to anyone who has a love of the great outdoors. Out door pursuits and activities are popular in and around most chalet parks and there are so many activities to choose from , Often simple appreciation of the local scenery is enough to make someone seek out a chalet park stay and parks are usually located within areas where, fishing, sailing, walking horse riding & cycling are are all easily available.

When seeking to rent a chalet from a holiday park, it is essential to do your own research as to the facilities on offer. Standard and Legalities vary the world over and what you can take for granted in one country you may find applicable in another. In the United Kingdom for example there is now an official star based scheme where park owners can prove the facilities they have on offer to renters. To achieve star status, the holiday park must have been visited by an official inspector from the local tourist board who will have carried out a full review of the facilities on offer. After this visit, the inspector will make a report and if applicable award a grading.  The scheme covers all different types of holiday park or chalet park accommodation and can be used as a trusted benchmark when deciding to rent or buy a property at a particular location. If you are interested in buying a property on a chalet park and deriving a second income from your purchase, having it located on a park with a higher star award should in theory make it easier to rent.  The inspections are quite rigorous and range from a single star award (which still means the site has achieved passes on over 60 separate points) up to 5 stars which is currently the maximum:-

  • Two/One Star-Good and Acceptable, to achieve these basic grades, is still an achievement in itself and the site will have to have passed a number of tests and even minor details are taken in to consideration by the Tourist Board. Much focus is placed on cleanliness and any site that has attained this status will have exceed the provisions required.

  • Three Star- Very Good- Any chalet park or site that achieve this status are considered to be industry standard sites. If a chalet park site you are considering has this rating then you can rely on it to be of a very good standard.

  • Four Star- Excellent Quality. And that's what you can expect from sites with this grading and you can be assured that they will have earned it. To be considered for this grading takes a good deal of attention to minor detail relating to all services provided to paying guests backed up by excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness.

  • Five Star- Exceptional. This is the highest level of grading and sites really do have to be of an exceptional standard to receive this grading. They are above the highest standards that an industry would expect. Every aspect of these parks has been carefully considered and stays at a park of this calibre would be considered luxurious.

History of The Holiday Park Homes - Holiday chalets are beloved the world over, the name originated in Switzerland and loosely translated means the house of a herder. Traditionally, the construction of a chalet was wooden and the dwelling had a sloping roof and widely overhanging eaves to help cope with the adverse weather conditions found in Alpine regions. In common with modern chalets on holiday parks, these buildings were used as temporary accommodation in the summer months and during the winter months the occupants would descend in the valleys below to seek shelter for the winter. These buildings were built to withstand extreme weather ranges and when you think about it, what material is better to withstand harsh winters than natures own wood. People simple ,love staying in this type of building as it imparts a wonderful feeling of being part of the great outdoors.
